About Friends of Douglas County K-9

“Our vision is to enhance the ongoing directives of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit through community fundraising, education and public awareness.”

Formally established in 2011, Friends of Douglas County K-9 (K-9 Friends) is the only non-profit organization solely committed to the financial support of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit. With the exception of deputy salaries and vehicles, the DCSO K-9 Unit is funded almost entirely by donations. Additionally, K-9 Friends is 100% volunteer-run, ensuring all funds directly impact the K-9 Unit.

Since 2011, K-9 Friends has had the privilege of helping the DCSO K-9 Unit purchase eleven new dogs, provide world-class training, and an array of specialized equipment. We also work hard to ensure our retired K-9s receive the best healthcare possible. See the complete list of what K-9 Friends has accomplished since its inception.

But we couldn’t have done any of this without the generosity and kindness of folks just like you. Your contribution to K-9 Friends – no matter how small – makes a big difference for our heroes, their safety and the security of our community. Please join us!
