The 2017 Gala was the most successful since the charity’s founding in 2011.
Fortunately, you can still contribute to the K-9 Unit by making a one-time donation.
The 2017 Howling Good Time Gala was a tribute for K-9 Borris who passed away peacefully at his home in May. Borris served the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office as former Deputy Gerritt Kaufman’s partner between March 2005 and October 2012, and he did so without fear or reservation.
All donations to K-9 Friends and proceeds from the Gala directly benefit the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. Training and safety gear are always at the top of the wish list for our K-9s, and ongoing medical care for retired dogs is essential.

Drug trafficking has never been worse in Colorado. These dogs are part of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and they’re on the job 24/7/365 patrolling I-25 – the third most heavily drug trafficked highway in America – and the surrounding counties.
As the driving force of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, these dogs assist with hundreds of arrests, building searches and drug searches every year, and have even tracked down dozens of fleeing criminals in the past two years, alone. Your family is much safer because of them.
These dogs are heroes. They are highly trained, skilled K-9 officers and they put themselves in harm’s way for the sole purpose of saving human lives. They deserve the protection of ballistic, bulletproof vests and other safety equipment – standard issue for every other deputy.
These dogs work and train tirelessly to make our community a safer place. Your contribution to K-9 Friends – no matter how small – makes

Coors At Coors Brewing Company, our leadership in sustainability started back in 1959. That year, Coors helped launch the recycling revolution when it pioneered the aluminum can and sparked a recycling movement. And we’ve been building on that legacy ever since – not just in the area of recycling but in supporting the community with investments in jobs, water stewardship and responsible drinking.
Franktown Animal Clinic Franktown Animal Clinic has been providing expert veterinary care in the Southeast Denver area since 1990. Their new medical center is one of the largest and best-equipped in the state of Colorado. But it’s their PEOPLE who make the difference for your pet.
The kind of genuine commitment to K-9 Friends we’ve seen in previous years is truly amazing. It is an honor to be surrounded by these caring sponsors as well as so many other great friends who have given so generously and volunteered with such passion. Together, we’ll make this year’s Gala even better!
